J. Douglas Hudson, M.D.

J. Douglas Hudson, M.D. was the first board certified sleep specialist in Austin, Texas and is the founder of Austin Neurological Clinic. His background in neurology is a perfect match for the field of sleep medicine. Dr. Hudson continually increases his understanding of sleep disorders through his involvement in sleep research and giving professional presentations to the medical community on a nationwide speakers bureau. Greg Tempest, M.D.

Dr. Tempest is a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurology and board certified in Neurology and Sleep Medicine.  He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, where he also completed a residency in Neurology and was a Fellow in Clinical Neurophysiology.

Our practice is headed by J. Douglas Hudson, MD, Board Certified in both Sleep Medicine and Neurology.  Drs. Hudson and Tempest are assisted with patient care by three midlevel providers:  Rhonda Biles, PA-C, Mary Youngwith, RN, FNP-C, and Karen Blakley, RN, CNS.

(def) A medical provider who is not a physician but is licensed to diagnose and treat patients under the supervision of a physician.

Dr. Hudson and Dr. Ortiz are complemented by the expertise of three additional providers: Rhonda Biles, PA-C, Josie H. Zamora, RN, CNS, and Mary Youngwith, RN, FNP-C.

Each of these licensed midlevel providers have received hands on training in sleep medicine. Under the supervision of Dr. Hudson, these providers take patient medical histories, perform physical exams, make assessments, and order labs, tests, and write prescriptions as appropriate.

Rhonda Biles, PA-C

Rhonda recieved her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and continued her medical education earning a Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the The University of Texas Pan American. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners to provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician.

Mary Youngwith, RN, FNP-C

Mary is a Family Nurse Practioner. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practioner from the University of Texas at Austin. She is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Mary is an active member in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Austin Advanced Practice Nurses. Her medical background includes neurology, neurosurgery and women's health which complements her sleep disorders skills.

 Karen Blakley, RN, CNS

Karen is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas.  She is nationally certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and approved as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing.  She is an active member of the American Nurses Association and the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists.  Prior to her career in nursing, Karen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas A&M and a Master of Science in Biology from the University of Michigan.  She has previous medical experience in genetics and cardiovascular disease.
