J. Douglas Hudson, M.D.J. Douglas Hudson, M.D. was the first board certified sleep specialist in Austin, Texas and is the founder of Austin Neurological Clinic. His background in neurology is a perfect match for the field of sleep medicine. Dr. Hudson continually increases his understanding of sleep disorders through his involvement in sleep research and giving professional presentations to the medical community on a nationwide speakers bureau. Edward H. Ortiz, M.D.Edward H. Ortiz, M.D. is originally from San Antonio, Texas. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. Ortiz also completed two fellowships at Tulane University, in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine, and is board certified in both. Midlevel Provider(def) A medical provider who is not a physician but is licensed to diagnose and treat patients under the supervision of a physician. Dr. Hudson and Dr. Ortiz are complemented by the expertise of three additional providers: Rhonda Biles, PA-C, Josie H. Zamora, RN, CNS, and Mary Youngwith, RN, FNP-C. Each of these licensed midlevel providers have received hands on training in sleep medicine. Under the supervision of Dr. Hudson, these providers take patient medical histories, perform physical exams, make assessments, and order labs, tests, and write prescriptions as appropriate.
Rhonda Biles, PA-CRhonda recieved her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and continued her medical education earning a Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the The University of Texas Pan American. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners to provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician.
Mary Youngwith, RN, FNP-CMary is a Family Nurse Practioner. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practioner from the University of Texas at Austin. She is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Mary is an active member in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Austin Advanced Practice Nurses. Her medical background includes neurology, neurosurgery and women's health which complements her sleep disorders skills.
